H/BOSS is designed especially for gasoline and distillate fuels blending operations. H/BOSS features the latest technology in scheduling, simulation, blending and non-linear optimization.

Event-driven H/BOSS is unique in its ability to combine both recipe generation and product scheduling into one integrated package. H/BOSS is applicable in both short and long range blend planning, is fast and efficient. Troubling "what if?" questions can easily be tested and analyzed.

H/BOSS consists of event-driven, multi period modules:

A Windows-based user interface manages access to enter spreadsheet data, state-of-the art optimization modules, and output options. Solutions are provided in useful reports, operating instructions and screens with graphs and Gantt charts. H/BOSS can be connected to on-line blend ratio and blend property control systems.

Gasoline/Distillate Scheduling & Blending with a new H/BOSS II

A major project is well along to produce H/BOSS II. This off-the-shelf software will combine the best features of H/BOSS (such as great graphics and interface to the Access database), the powerful editing of H/SCHED, and new schedule generation capabilities using ideas developed in both H/BOSS and H/SCHED. The results will be a new system, which will be advanced beyond anything that has previously existed.

Further details will be presented to attendees at both the MUG and MUGI user conferences. (8/11/98)

H/BOSS II Demonstrated at MUG

This project is nearing completion and demonstrations of parts of the system was possible. One demonstration showed the loading of the finished schedule into an Access Data Base and the many advanced graphics and reports provided. Another demonstration showed a completely automatic generation of an optimal schedule and the gasoline blends to meet nine separate product liftings. This was based on real plant and lifting data. HSI plans delivery of H/BOSS II later this year. (9/19/98)

H/BOSS II

H/BOSS II, our major new product scheduling and blending software, is
coming along very well. All the parts have been developed and tested. The week before last was spent in putting it all together and H/BOSS II is now working as a whole and generating good schedules. Currently we are completing loose ends, putting in finishing touches and doing thorough quality assurance testing.

H/BOSS II includes important new extensions of technology which are making H/BOSS II the world's leading software for scheduling gasoline and other product blending.

Schedule Generation

A further advance has been made in the generalized schedule generation module (SGM) of H/BOSS II.

The current SGM has been doing simultaneous optimization of both blending and scheduling. To this has now been added the simultaneous consideration of which product tanks to use and when to change grades in the product tanks. Trade-offs can be made automatically among such things as making larger blends in anticipation of several liftings, making a blend early to avoid a component tank overflow, making a large blend in a tank when header time is available, then lifting and then quickly reblending to a different grade to satisfy the next lifting, - and many more.

Our R&D is keeping our schedule generation as the state-of-the-art for those who want the best. This is a specialty area of HSI. Prospective users are invited to contact us for more details and a demonstration. (5/4/99)

H/BOSS II

A major new development in our product blending and scheduling software is the inclusion of lift optimization in the overall optimization. H/BOSS will determine the lift schedule which will optimize return. The lifts may also include a mixture of fixed liftings and discretionary ones for the MIP to do the fixed and select among the discretionary ones. (2/10/00)
