One-Day Seminar - NO CHARGE 18 May, 2010
9:00am-4:00pm
This one-day seminar will cover a variety of topics including:
Planning and Optimization Best Practices - new
Mike Hileman, Soloman Associates
Solomon reports on Best Practices in areas of operations planning, scheduling, optimization and the LP model. Our research shows these practices will lead to better profit performance.
  H/Sched Consolidated - new
Gordon Perera, Haverly Systems
A major new H/Sched provides off-the-shelf software, which can be configured or modified by the user, HSI or third parties. It covers optimal scheduling of crude arrivals/blending, product blending and other parts of the refinery. The scheduler utilizes tailored Schedule Generation and optimization modules to assist his work. H/Sched Consolidated includes full graphics, reporting, model building, simulation, mixed-integer programming and more.
Novel Approach for Developing Cut Map for a New Crude without a Thermodynamic Model - new
V K Maheshwari, N V Sangeeta & Aninda Saha
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, India

With multiple CDUs having different operating and design condition, yields vary for the same crude in each CDU. Thus a methodology was required to arrive at unit wise crude yields and properties without using rigorous and time consuming simulation on thermodynamic models. This presentation covers how cut map for simulated crude can be developed using HCAMS which is very close to the actual plant operation and thermodynamic model output. The methodology involves comparing new crude TBP curve mathematically with crudes already simulated using thermodynamic model and identify the best suitable simulated crude to be used for developing crude yield for new crude.
  NetBlend
David Alexander, Haverly Systems
A new web-based tool for optimized blending of gasoline and other specification blended products is now available. It makes use of proven Haverly technology including our user-friendly, infeasibility-free results from optimization. Features provide for reformulated gasoline, ethanol blending (fixed %), optimized and target blending and much more. It is designed for use over the web by refinery or terminal blenders or by traders. The product will be described and demonstrated.

Rapid Crude Oil Quality Monitoring
Peter Spitz, Intertek-Caleb Brett
Understanding changes in Crude Oil Quality is increasingly important to manage value assessment to your assets, from Exploration, through the Supply Chain, to the Refinery.  The Rapid Yield Program (RYP) allows comparison of the existing assay with an analytical procedure that provides detailed molecular data on the gasoline range material, an accurate yield curve, and can monitor trace contaminants and other crude quality issues.  Samples are sent to the laboratory in "excepted" quantity shipments on passenger aircraft, fully compliant with IATA regulation, allowing near real time monitoring of crude oil quality.
H/CAMS: Using the New Features Effectively
David Alexander, Haverly Systems
Many new features have been added to H/CAMS in recent times. Some of these will be demonstrated with practical examples shown and in particular the popular Yield Blend, Blend Optimizer  and Database viewer
H/COMET: How to Value Crudes and Blends
David Alexander, Haverly Systems
This new web tool is now being used extensively by many major Oil corporations and Independent traders. Some of the ways it is being used will be demonstrated, especially on how Netbacks can be derived for crudes and blends for custom refinery configurations.
  Smoothing Assay Data
David Alexander, Haverly Systems
A short tutorial on techniques of smoothing and extending limited assay data using H/CAMS.
  H/CAMS: New Method for Interfacing
David Alexander, Haverly System
There are over 30 applications that H/CAMS connects to. A new method has been developed to make this connection easier and faster.
  H/Gal-XE: Gasoline Blending
Gordon Perera, Haverly Systems
This exciting new Gasoline Blending Optimizer will be demonstrated
  GRTMPS Planning System
Gordon Perera, Haverly Systems
The new advances in the Haverly LP Planning system, G4 will be presented.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Registration is required.
